The Macca clinic

Monsoon Madness

Macca has arrived – fresh from a Sydney-Hobart and a a campaign on a DK46 during the most recent Straits Regatta… this guy does a lot of sailing! But his number one thing is cats, so those of you who have signed up for Monsoon Madness Clinic this weekend are in for a treat!

Last week Macca warmed up with one of the crew off Quantum Racing and I don’t think I’ve seen a cat sail so fast past the club i.e. Nacra 20 in 20 – 25 knots of breeze, one no the wire and a kite full of power – was an awesome sight!

Tomorrow, there’s a class room session followed by an on-the-water session. Those attending, we’ll be starting at 10am followed by a lunch break. During the lunch break, you should rig your cats so that the afternoon on-the-water can proceed without any delay. If you’re late on the water, that will be your problem…

Please keep in mind that this is a high performance clinic and treat it as such. You’ll learn a lot that you’ll hopefully put into practice the following weekend at the Cat Nationals – for which we have the ultimate racing area planned (subject to approval from authorities concerned). We need to make the next couple of Cat Regattas a huge success so please take part.

There’s a bit more exciting development in the wings and revolves around some ‘adventure sailing’ on the Malaysian East Coast. It’s still early days but we’re hoping that a shipment big Nacras will make their way to us next season and setup for a huge Raid Race down the Malaysian coast. Two things for sure,
One. We’ll be making another recce’ trip soon using the large Nacras and anyone game to try
Two. It won’t be for the faint-hearted!

About prosailing

In Southeast Asia a long time and all the while, sailing cats. But the cat love-affair began when I finished building my first catamaran at age 15... "never again". After building 2 more Formula 16 cats in Malaysia it's really 'never again'. Now we have a large fleet of high-tech speed machines including the Nacra 20 Carbon. Then we decided to spread our wings a little more and imported the Corsair Dash 750. Now we are well on the way to establishing a Coastal One Design Dash Class. As a test bed, we had 4 Dashes take part in the Neptune Regatta and now the plans are rolling out.
